About the Job
Surgery Nurse #2, Female, 30s, Black SCENE: You’re a nurse finishing up prepping a 40 year old female patient for surgery. She’s a strong patient—not really worried, so you chat with her as you work. Her husband is there, but just sitting quietly in the corner. He’s trying not to show it, but you can tell he’s nervous. As you start to wheel the patient out, you take a last look back at him and his anxiety is bubbling over. You’ve done this long enough to know that he just needs to say goodbye to her one last time. You quietly invite him over to give her one last kiss before the patient transport tech wheels her out of the room to surgery.
